First Post-Labour Mani

Here is another blast from the past - my first post-labour mani!  Wow, this was over ten months ago; again, like the last post, I had this saved in my draft folder and even though I am finally completing and posting it now, the date is February!  Anyway, I wanted something to reflect my sweet, little bundle of joy, thus I chose this simple but beautiful orchid creme.  Radiant Orchid covered nicely in two coats.  I wish I could say the same about Full Metal, but I remember using at least three coats (and tip wear being apparent, as shown below).
Blah.

Well, here's to hoping I can rouse myself out of this blogging funk and start posting again. :)

Pahlish Holo Skittles

Wow! So, this post has been sitting, waiting to be posted for almost a year!  I was very into Pahlish polish at this time and purchased all of the Hallowe'en 2014 polishes.  Of course, I couldn't decide on just one and thus, made a skittle mani.  I'm pretty certain these polishes covered nicely in two coats.

Sadly, I only have Pop Rock Panic left.  I've moved onto other indie brands in the past year (and rekindled my love for Enchanted Polish) and only kept a few special Pahlishes.

Here's to a short and sweet post and also to my (hopeful) return to blogging!

**Am I the only one who finds it strange that the date on this post is the date I originally saved it (Feb. 2015) and not the actual date I posted it (Nov. 2015).   Weird!!**

Butter London Posh Bird

Not much to say about this mani.  It's shimmery, purple, and holo.  I added some holo topcoat, as I wasn't quite sure if I liked the shimmer by itself.  I'm still not sure.  What do you think?

Picture Polish Fool's Gold and RBL Coquette

Oh, Rescue Beauty Lounge Coquette, how I love thee!  You are the epitome of juicy, coral nail polish.  :)  I love combining aqua and coral and this combo of Picture Polish Fool's Gold and Coquette will most likely be gracing my nails again.
I believe both polishes were opaque in two coats, but don't quote me on that. ;)  I don't take notes while doing my manis and since this was months ago, I just don't remember.
I did need topcoat to smooth out the tiny, sparkly, gold glitter in Fool's Gold, but I love the depth the glitter brings to this polish.

Elevation UU08 and SBP Golden Leaves

Elevation Polish is one of my favourite indie brands.  Her polish formulas apply beautifully; she offers a wide range of colours and finishes and they are affordable, compared to certain other indie brands.  Every month, Lulu, the owner, offers two restocks of regular polish and LE polishes (samples and Small Batch Prototypes [SBPs]).  You are limited to two LE polishes per month, which makes it very competitive to snag even one at a restock.  I've been lucky and snagged two whenever I've tried.  :)
The following are two LEs that I scored, both creamy, subtle holos (which I don't normally go for).  UU08 is a gorgeously neutral sage shade and Golden Leaves is a soft buttercup yellow (which I also don't nomally care for).  They look purdy together, don't they?  Both Elevations applied dreamily with two coats; I don't remember if I used topcoat.

Chanel Cosmic Violine

Short and sweet: found Chanel Cosmic Violine on eBay for a decent price; bought it; wasn't sure I liked it; put it on and loved it.  It is more brown-based than I thought it would be, but that doesn't stop the beautiful, red microglitter (shimmer?) from peeking through.  It's definitely a polish I would keep for a 'classy' occasion.  Two smooth coats and topcoat provided the glossy look below.

Would you shell out money for Chanel polishes or do you feel they are overrated?

Christian Dior Minuit and KBShimmer I Got a Crush on Blue

Yet another mani from the vault!  Though she is a beauty, I sold Dior Minuit a while ago as I had quite a few vampy shimmers already.  KBShimmer I Got a Crush on Blue, however, is quite unique, a glowing blue jelly with holographic glitter of all sizes galore!  I tend to shy away from chunky glitter polishes but once this polish is covered with a good topcoat, it was pretty darn smooth.
Minuit covered nicely in two coats, as did Crush on Blue (with a few spots dabbed on to reach opacity).

Do you find all vampies too similar to own, or do each have their own merits?

Cirque Midsummer Night

I surprisingly liked this mani ... a lot!  Usually I shy away from bright/deep blues, but Cirque Midsummer Night, a cobalt blue with shifting shimmer and holo sparks, won me over.  My photo is a shade or two brighter than it actually is, due to the camera flash, but the shimmer is pretty accurate ~ it's gorgeous.  The polish is also quite sheer; pictured here is three coats, but there is no reason not to layer this over a similar blue to preserve the polish (it was an LE).

Do you have the three Kontiki polishes?  Which one is your favourite?  I still have to try the pink one; maybe that will be an upcoming mani.

At Last...some Flashing Lights!

Now, I am not one who is normally drawn to duo/multichrome polishes.  Colors by Llarowe At Last, however, is one that caught and held my eye.  It shifts from purple to navy to teal and has a smattering of pink microglitter (or shimmer) if I remember correctly.  Of course, you can't see the colour shift in my photo, but it is there!

Enchanted Polish Flashing Lights is another polish that I normally wouldn't be drawn to, a gold one, and a glitter at that!  Flashing Lights applied nicely in two coats though and was smoothed out with a coat of topcoat.  Just look at all that bling.  Chelsea, the owner of Enchanted, should seriously consider doing a rainbow collection of this type of glitter.  So gorgeous!

Pahlish La Belle Endormie and Sleep to Dream

I am writing this post on January 29th, so by the time it is scheduled and you see it, I may have or be in the process of having my fourth and final child!  The little one is due on February 8th, but I have a feeling she will grace the world with her presence a bit earlier than that.

I jumped on the Pahlish bandwagon a few months ago, but it was a short-lived bandwagon.  I didn't find the formula particularly amazing and the colours, while pretty, were not that unique.  Such is the case with La Belle Endormie and Sleep to Dream.  Both are glowing vampies, but I already have some, so did I really need to buy these?  In case you can't tell, for the past few months, I've been in the habit of purging dupes/polishes I don't wear.  These two, unfortunately were sold soon after they appeared in my hands.

Are you in the habit of buying polishes that are dupes for others?

Colors by Llarowe Toga Toga Toga and Courage, Brains, Heart

My pictures definitely not do these polishes justice!  Colors by Llarowe really knocked these two beauties out of the park (and into my hands).   :)

Toga Toga Toga (hereby Togax3), a beautiful mid purple with a stunning blue flash, and Courage, Brains, Heart (hereby CBH), a glowing fuschia with a purple flash, were both sold in Llarowe's coveted monthly boxes, so not everyone who wanted these polishes got them.  I found out about them after the boxes sold out and I sheepishly admit that I swapped/paid a good amount of money for them.  For CBH, it was totally worth it.  For Togax3, not so much ~ see bottom of post.  For now, let's just behold the beauty of these two polishes.

Unfortunately, my bottle of Togax3 was one of the ones that faded and lost that beautiful blue flash.  Oh, there was a lot of anger in the polish world when this happened...
It's a crazy world we inhabit!

Girly Bits Mint-al Precision and Bette Davis Eyes

Here's another mani from many moons (months) ago.  I love the aqua shade of Mint-Al Precision, but there was something about Bette Davis Eyes that I did not like, probably the pink sheen that it gave off at certain angles.  I try and try, but I just can't do pink flash. :)

Bette Davis Eyes (try not to hear the earworm right now!) dried with a slight texture, but I liked the shininess of it with a coat of topcoat.  Mint-al Precision applied a bit thickly, if I remember correctly.  When I wear it again, I will definitely put a bit of thinner in it.  Otherwise, it's very pretty, isn't it?

IG Mani Backlog

I don't always have an awful lot of time to be on the computer during the day, seeing as how my three little ones are underfoot; thus, I take most of my mani pics with my cell phone and post them on Instagram.  I only take camera photos of the truly deserving manis. :)

Memories of Japan mani

*sigh*  This mani brings back memories of when I lived and taught in Japan for two years.  I was hesitant about stamping the face on my middle finger, but totally impressed at how it turned out!
I thought the delicate pink with green shimmer of Cult Alluring was a nice contrast to the stamping and don't even get me started on Llarowe Final Fantasy.  Creamy, holographic and that gorgeous pink microglitter!  It's probably the only polish I like that has pink microglitter. :)  All in all, a mani I loved (this was worn in the summer!), though the stamping could have been executed better.
