Colors by Llarowe Rapture and China Glaze holos

Oh, I just love aqua, peach and pink together.  Add holo pigment to them and voila, they just scream summer!  Colors by Llarowe Rapture leans a bit more green in real life (as opposed to the baby blue pictured); I'm just not good at capturing accurate colours sometimes.  ;)
The two China Glaze holos, from the ancient Kaleidoscope collection, have larger holo particles, almost a mix of linear and scattered, but they are equally as bling-y in the sun, believe me.

All polishes were opaque in two coats and the holo did not diminish under topcoat.

Enchanted Polish A Little Fishy Told Me and April 2014

This mani includes one of my favourite polishes of all time, Enchanted A Little Fishy Told Me.  It's the perfect shade of green (read: does not create lobster hands); it has gorgeous blue microglitter; it's holo, but not obtrusively so; it's just understated and elegant.  If you had asked me a year ago whether this polish would float my boat, the answer would be a resounding 'no', but I've smartened up and come around.  ;)

Its mani partner, Enchanted April 2014, is certainly a gorgeous periwinkle blue, but the holo effect is very weak.  I almost considered selling this and just using a holo topcoat over a creme periwinkle polish, but I couldn't ~ seller's remorse...

Both polishes covered creamily in two coats and shone with a coat of topcoat.  And, since I couldn't leave well enough alone, I had to try out my new stamping plates.

Cirque Heritage skittles

I loved this mani when I wore it in July, but sadly I had other very similar, more holographic colours, thus I ended up selling all of this collection (not pictured are Sani and Powwow).  :(  Nonetheless, all of these Cirque Heritage holos applied nicely in two coats with a subtle holo flame.

I'm definitely going to reuse this stamp using other holo polishes; I just love this honeycomb look.

Emily de Molly Path Less Taken and Ricochet

Here's another stamping creation that I quite adored (and, bonus, my nails were a bit longer this time)!  I don't remember which plate I used, but I chose to adorn Emily de Molly's golden khaki Path Less Taken and greenish grey Ricochet.  I thought these colours played off each other well (as well as the reptilian stamp designs) and I'd love to do another mani with them by themselves next time.  :)
Each polish covered nicely in two coats and the stamping and topcoat definitely did not lessen their holo flash.

Contrary Polish River Market and Jin Soon Obsidian

If I remember correctly, I wore this mani for Good Friday.  I seem to gravitate towards vampies during the beginning of the Easter holiday, for some reason. I thought the red shimmer in RBL Black Russian's blackened base was quite appropriate and was excited to see that Contrary River Market also had beautiful red shimmer, albeit in a purple jelly base.  The first picture shows two somewhat thick coats of River Market, while the second pictures is three coats, I believe.  The colour really deepened with the third coat. As for Black Russian, tipwear was prominent quite early in the manicure, so I slapped on a quick coat of Jin Soon Obsidian, a black polish with holo microglitter and a pink shimmer and the dark, sparkly goodness sufficed.

Colors by Llarowe My Big Girl Panties and Enchanted Polish Dime Piece

My nails were shorties while I wore this mani, but I loved the flower stamping so much I was able to overlook that. ;)  I used the awesome Enchanted Dime Piece as an accent and CbL My Big Girl Panties as the main colour on one hand and vice versa on the other.  They look similar but My BGP is a silvered lilac linear holo while Dime Piece is a straight up silver linear holo (excellent both as a base and to stamp with).  Both polishes had amazing holo payoff and covered nicely in two coats.  *sigh*

I can't wait to try out more EdM stamping plates; I have in mind to order 6 and 9 as well.  They stamp very crisply even with not-so-pigmented polish.  What are you favourite stamping plates?

Nail Polish Canada Great Polish Giveaway of 2014!

If you're as polish obsessed as I am, I'm sure you've heard that Nail Polish Canada is hosting an insane giveaway of up to 200 polishes from their site!
For my addition to the prize lot, I thought I would go with one of my favourite polishes (ever!), Cult Nails My Kind of Cool Aid.  The aqua polish also gracing my nails in this manicure, Cult Nails Manipulative, is my other favourite polish, but sadly, has been discontinued.  I just adore these shades together, and alone.  They are two of very few polishes that I will wear without any embellishments.  Please see my previous blog post for application details on Cult Nails My Kind of Cool Aid.

Elevation Polish The Twinkle in Yeti's Eye

Shortie alert!  It seems that anytime I obliterate my nails into shorties, awesome nail mail arrives.  This is definitely one of those times.  Oh well, the colour was too beautiful not to use it.  :)
I find that the second photo shows the blue of Elevation The Twinkle in Yeti's Eye more accurately, as well as that gorgeous (shifting) shimmer.  Two coats of Twinkle provided opacity, but unfortunately, I had a few issues with this polish.  First, the shimmer is very shy, unless you are in the blazing sunlight.  Second, it slightly stained my nails.  :(
For the stamped nails, I applied two coats of Pahlish The Ghost Shift, a charcoal holo with purple microglitter, and when they were dry, stamped over them with Essie Go Overboard, a teal creme that matches the teal in Twinkle very nicely.  I am actually surprised that it was opaque enough!
I used two of my favourite designs (I don't remember which Konad plates they are, as I am not at home right now); the second one reminds me of mendhi.  :)

Enchanted Polish Bruised Nutcracker/Dance of the Sugar Plum

I have found my favourite purple holo: Enchanted Polish Dance of the Sugar Plum.  It is beautifully holo and the perfect mix of dusty purple and brown (plum?).  I also enjoyed Bruised Nutcracker as the dusty demin blue shade is also my 'bag', but the holo was not as evident as that of its sister.
Both polishes applied creamily and opaquely in two coats; I spruced up my thumb with To Die for, a blue based holo glitter.

Colors by Llarowe Silver/Bea Stings/Purple Pizzazz

Quickie tonight!  I decided to use all Colors by Llarowe polishes in this mani and I love it!  Silver (of the Christmas Silver/Gold duo) is amazingly holo with a purplish grey tinge and Purple Pizzazz and Bea Stings are gorgeous holo micro glitters.  Note how PP's holo arc is blue in tone ~ very pretty!  All polishes were two coats with top coat to smooth out the microglitter.

Looking at Bea Stings, the raspberry base and red glitter would be gorgeous right now in the summer sunshine.  When I return home on Monday night, I'm packing it up to come back to the cottage with me! :)

Colors by Llarowe Holo Skittles

I wore this mani many months ago and I'm not sure I have the order of the blue holo glitters correct.  I'm fairly certain CbL Shimmering Waters is on my index finger as it has the least amount of larger glitter.  For some reason, I found the larger glitter took away from the polishes and broke up that nice holographic sparkle.  I also found that the three blue shades were much too similar to each other.  :(
From what I remember, all of the polishes applied nicely in two coats and became smooth with a nice, thick coat of topcoat.  I do love the aqua colour of Shimmering Waters, as well as Sandra Dee (red and silver holographic glitter); those are the two polishes I kept out of the five.

Chanel Vertigo and Colors by Llarowe blue holos

Colors by Llarowe Different Dimension is a polish that I was skeptical about before I put it on my nails and adored afterward.  It's hard to describe: it looks teal; it looks aqua; it has a green flash and also a holo flash.  I'm probably way off, but that's how I see it and I love it!  I chose Llarowe House of Blues for my thumb, which is a royal blue holo that appears purple in some lights, but I didn't get a good shot of it.  Oh well, I'll definitely be wearing it again.
DD and HoB applied nicely in two coats, as did Chanel Vertigo.  You can't really see it in any light but sunlight, but there is a fine red shimmer in Vertigo.  Doesn't matter; it is a great neutral I can see myself using for nail art.

Zoya Zuza and Emily de Molly Frail Promise

I debated buying Zoya Zuza for a long time; the swatches I saw just did not impress me.  However, I found it cheap in a FB sale and scooped it up.  The aqua polish glows with tiny golden shimmer and is very pretty, I must say.  I thought it would go well with the aqua glitters in Emily de Molly Frail Promise.  Finding a pink polish to match was a bit of a problem as I don't really have many bright pinks, but I did manage to finagle one out of my purple/pink Helmer drawer.  As I wore this mani months ago, though, I don't remember what it is!!

I'm kind of 'meh' about this mani.  The pink doesn't wow me.  I love the base of Frail Promise, but the white glitter just gets me, and not in a good way.  Why did I buy it? Who knows....

BB Couture Bloody Black Bart and Misa Eye Candy

Normally, I am more of a blue-based purple polish kind of gal, but this red-based purple has me smitten!  It's deep, shimmery and has pretty glints of red microshimmer!  They match the intense shimmer of Misa Eye Candy, a bright red polish.  It is super intense; the second picture is more accurate in portraying its Eye Candy's true colour, while the first photo is a bit more orange.  Note that Eye Candy dries matte, so a coat of topcoat brings out the glorious shimmer.

Brownish skittles

Laura Mercier Bewitched and Dior Czarina Gold were both on my coveted list for ages and when I finally found them on eBay at decent prices, I jumped!  They are a bit darker than other swatches I've seen but still sparkly and gorgeous nonetheless!  Bewitched is a deep, forest green with various colours of shimmer while Czarina Gold is a dark brown infused with golden shimmer.
I kept Essie Hors d'ouevres from my previous manicure and thought that the dark brown rainbow of Colors by Llarowe Burnt Sugar would round off this skittle mani nicely.  And it did.  :)
I used two coats of each polish as well as topcoat, which always brings out the shimmer nicely.

Colors by Llarowe Precious Metal stamped

Wow, it's been ages since I wore this mani, but what else is new?  I had just bought a new Bundle Monster stamping plate and thought it would be a good time to try it out.  I'm not sure that Orly Frolic was the best choice for the stamping polish as there isn't much contrast between that and CbL Precious Metal, but it stamped nicely so I will definitely be trying it out with a darker base.
I will also be doing a mani of Precious Metal by itself; the colour changing shimmer in a grey base = yum!
