Dior/RBL Skittles

I think I've found the perfect silver glitter ~ Picture Polish Heavy Metal!  It is opaque in two coats, dries smooth (!!), and has some holographic pieces that glint through the silver glitter.  If I could find champagne and gold glitters that were like this, I'd have my precious metal lemmings fulfilled. :)
I added Dior Shadow and Liquorice to the mix to ascertain the difference between them; they are very similar in the bottles.  Both are purple shimmers, but Shadow is kind of a dusty greyish purple, while Liquorice is a deeper and more vibrant reddish purple, if any of that makes sense.  :)
To complete the mani, I used RBL Reveillon.  To be honest, this colour did nothing for me at first, especially since it is prone to brushstrokes.  However, after dabbing the polish with a makeup sponge and then using topcoat, the brushstrokes are gone and the shimmer shines!  I'm still not sure the icy blue shade works well with my skin tone; I'll have to try it again!
Heavy Metal and Reveillon were both two coaters, while Shadow and Liquorice were two-coaters with a bit more brushed on to cover patches caused by my ridges.

I should have taken a full shot of Heavy Metal! :O

Elevation Polish Epidote/Pata Puffer II and Zoya Yasmeen

I've found my perfect olive green holo ladies: Elevation Polish Epidote!!!  It's smooth and creamy and covers perfectly in two coats.  It's a gorgeous shade of green and has a great holo flash.  What more could I ask for?
I paired it with Zoya Yasmeen, a warm purple with pink shimmer.  Yasmeen also applied nicely in two coats.  Eying my stash, I thought the glitter in Elevation Pata Puffer II would match Yasmeen and I was right.  I do like it paired with olive green, but I think it would look better over a creme so that the glitter can really pop.

I thought that Yasmeen would be a dupe for Cult Nails Flushed as they look similar in the bottles, but I was wrong.  Both have that beautiful pink shimmer, but the purple in Flushed is blue-based and cool, while Yasmeen's purple is red-based and warm.

Which purple do you prefer? I can't decide!

a England Sleeping Palace and Fated Prince

a England polishes are always a pleasure to wear and the following two are no exception.  I picked up the whole Burne-Jones Dream collection and these two, the subtly linear holo ones, spoke the most to me (I sold Briarwood and am contemplating selling Rose Bower).  Sleeping Palace is smoky plum while Fated Prince is charcoal grey, which leans olive at times.   Both colours are right up my alley. I would compare SP to Layla Misty Blush and FP to Layla Flash Black, thought Flash Black doesn't have the same olive tone to it.
Both polishes applied smoothly in two coats and sparkled nicely even with a coat of Cult Wicked Fast. I don't remember if they chipped (as holos are prone to do) as I changed my mani within a day or two.

Ooh. I just saw photos of the upcoming a England Ballerina collection; so dainty and pretty!

Illamasqua Charisma/Essie Sable Collar

To think that I almost got rid of Illamasqua Charisma!  I initially swatched it using one coat, when it's the second coat that brings out the richness of the reddish pink shimmer and glints of the red microglitter.  *wipes brow*  I'm glad I tried it again because I love it.  I also love the smoky/dusty shimmer of Essie Sable Collar.  I'm not sure how to accurately describe this polish; to me, it is taupe with reddish shimmer, but in some lights it pulls grey, while in others it leans more brown.  Regardless, it is a beauty!  Both polishes applied nicely in two coats and I added a coat of Wicked Fast to bring out the shimmer.

Of course I couldn't leave well enough alone; I decided to (finally) try out my Ninja Polish Dragon glitters in a half moon accent mani.  I just taped off the upper 1/3 of my nail with a French tip sticker, painted on two coats of the glitter and peeled off the sticker right away.  Once the glitter polish dried, I topped the nails off with a coat (or two?) of Nubar Diamont, my 'hungry glitter' topcoat.  Kinda cute!

I thought this was a fun way to spice up my mani.  Next time I do a half moon mani, I think I'll try using glitter as my base polish and a subdued colour for the bottom half.   Ideas, ideas...

Nicole by OPI Cinna-man of my Dreams

Just a quickie tonight.   A very quick quickie!  I don't remember how many coats I used for the polishes, but I do remember not having any problems in terms of application. :)

Illamasqua Facet/Essie Mind Your Mittens

Illamasqua Facet is definitely up there on my Top 10 Favourite Polishes list!  It's a beautiful greyed-out taupe with the most amazing golden bronze shimmer.  It sparkles and dances and it was a dream to apply (two coats).  I think its softness paired well with Essie Mind Your Mittens, the blue creme with hidden shimmer from the winter 2012 collection (also two coats).  Both colours are unique in my collection.
I added a bit of bling with OPI I Snow You Love Me.  I didn't apply this glitter topcoat regularly; instead, I fished out the glitter and placed them on my nails with the end of a bobby pin.  I prefer 'neat' glitter when it's this size.  The only thing I dislike about this mani is that since I used two thick coats of topcoat, there are tiny bubbles on my ring finger.  But, if you don't click on the pics to enlarge, you probably can't see them. :)

Picture Polish skittles

Can I just say that Picture Polish Hope might be my favourite scattered holographic polish yet!  It's such a deep and mysterious blue that I just want to sit there and lose myself in it, all the time.  Seriously.  Who needs galaxy nails when you have this polish?
I thought Demeter would be a good colour to pair it with and while I'm not sure I like it with Hope, I do like it with Girly Bits Crunchy leaves applied on top.  Pretty colours for fall.  All PP polishes in this post consist of three coats (for ultimate depth), while GB Crunchy Leaves was one thick coat.

Of course, as soon as I wore this manicure, a girl in one of my FB groups wanted to know the difference between Cosmos and Freya's Cats.  My camera, sadly, failed to adequately differentiate between the two blues.  Hope is clearly different from the other two as it's a deep teal but Cosmos and FC are fairly similar. I would have to say the main difference is that Freya's Cats is a smidge brighter and more jellyish than Cosmos.  Here is a much better comparison pic!

Similar or not, I love them all.  I am such a sucker for Picture Polish's scattered holographic polishes!
