Rescue Beauty Lounge Catherine

Rescue Beauty Lounge Catherine is such a beautiful colour for this cool, blustery time of year.  Greyed-out purple sprinkled with multicolour shimmer, it is a regal and complex polish.  Two coats covered beautifully, along with one coat of topcoat to enhance the shimmer. The accent polish is China Glaze Westside Warrior, a creamy olive green, topped with Elevation Quartz Monzonite.  I love the green and purple together!

Autumn inspired skittles

Quick post tonight as I'm absolutely exhausted.  Being a mom will do that to ya!
I felt like a highly contrasting skittle look one day and this mani was born.  Both Cult Nails All Out and Gleek Out were three coats, while China Glaze Midtown Magic was two. What better way to highlight the two glass fleck stunners than to add some fall-inspired glitter, Oopsie Daisies Apple Picking.  I really like how it came together.  Such nice fall colours!

Literary Lacquer Skittles

I recently did a Literary Lacquer group order for one of my Facebook groups and I indulged in these linear holographic pretties. Of course, I couldn't decide what to wear first, so I tried them all!  Coverage was great; three thin coats (two thicker coats would probably suffice) dried quickly and the holo wasn't diminished with one coat of Wicked Fast.

I think they are all gorgeous, but I must admit I wasn't fond of the pink holographic glitter in Raspberry Cordial.  In certain types of lighting, the glitter appears like specks or imperfections in the formula.  But, it did bring a bit of extra bling to my fingers in the sun.  :) I absolutely love If it Pleases You as I've been on a dark purple holo hunt for quite a while and More Like Fire Than Light is definitely unique to my holo collection. Oh heck, I love them all!

I think I may be ordering more once the Literary Lacquer Etsy shop re-opens.  Do you have your eye on anything?

OPI Alcatraz...Rocks and Zoya Carter

Just a quickie for today ladies.  I thought I'd pair two texture polishes together, OPI Alcatraz...Rocks and Zoya Carter.  I believe this mani is two coats, but there might have been some dabbing to cover a few spots.  The OPI applied a bit more evenly, probably due to the wide brush (texture polishes can make it tricky to make a nice, clean line, but both dried to a softly gritty (if that makes sense) finish.
You can see multicoloured glitter peeking out in Alcatraz while Carter's glitter is a lighter purple than the base.  Both are beautiful!

What do you think about the texture rage going on?  Yay or nay?  I like it much more than crackle polishes!!!

Holo skittles with a dash of Orly

I'm on a skittle kick, dontcha think?  I don't know why, but I just really like the look of three different accent nails coupled with a neutral colour.  Today's neutral is Orly Country club Khaki, one of my oldest polishes.  I haven't used it in quite a while, but I remember why I love it ~ creamy and opaque in two coats, this polish goes with brights, darks, shimmers, glitters, everything!
All of the China Glaze polishes are from the Hologlam collection.  I know that most people (read: polish fiends) were disappointed that the holo wasn't as 'in your face' as that of the OMG collection, but a subtle holo polish is a nice thing if the colour is beautiful, no?
And, it doesn't hurt that I scored these polishes for $3 each!!!
I don't remember if I did two or three coats of China Glaze, but I do know that CCK is two coats.  All nails have a coat of Cult Wicked Fast, my HG topcoat.
Let's just take a moment and revel in the subtle holo.

I can't decide which blue is more stunning!  Do you have a favourite Hologlam polish?

Texture skittles with a dash of China Glaze

Continuing with the skittle trend, I thought I'd try a texture (well, partly) mani.  The contenders were Girly Bits Razzle Dazzle (my favourite pink polish), Deborah Lippmann Good Girl Gone Bad and Zoya Chyna.  I thought I'd balance out the texture with China Glaze Immortal, a grey with blue/purple shimmer.  Initially Immortal was in my swap/sell pile, but once I put it on, I fell in love with the shimmer.

Razzle was the grittiest of the textures, followed by Chyna and then GGGB.  After a day or so of wear, I wanted to see how many coats of Nubar Diamont it would take to smooth out the texture polishes.  GGGB was extremely smooth in one coat (it's meant to be worn shiny) and, surprisingly, so was Chyna!  Razzle needed two coats and even then it was not perfectly smooth.  Oh well.  The polishes sparkled brilliantly with topcoat (click on the second pic!), but they looked just as nice with the texture.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Skittles with a dash of Gosh

When I finally got my impatient little hands on Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie 2.0, what did I do?  Rip the box in haste to get her out and quickly slap some on my nails?  No.  I picked her up, stared at the dark brown/gold lustre in the bottle, and put her in my 'special' polish container alongside my few Chanels and Diors.  I knew I wanted to save her and bring her out when I had time to carefully apply her and revel in her beauty.  *wow, anthropomorphize much?*

When the time was right, I decided I wanted to see how she compared to her RBL sisters Anne and Ghost, also unworn polishes (I know, I know, use these beauts, don't just let them sit).  From afar these polishes appear similar, but up close, the colours and finishes all differ.  Ghost is a vibrant, glowing brown metallic; Anne has an olive green base infused with subtle pink shimmer; Scrangie 2.0 is a brownish olive metallic with tiny multicoloured shimmer.  I'm not the greatest at describing polishes, so if you'd like a more accurate description of Scrangie 2.0, please peruse the words of the creator herself, Scrangie.

I coupled the RBL polishes with Gosh Galaxy as I figured they would compliment the green/bronze/brown tones and I think I was right.  :)  All polishes applied like butter in two coats.  Scrangie 2.0 and Ghost, interestingly, appeared ridden with brush strokes immediately after application, but became smooth and shiny once dry and topped with a coat of Wicked Fast.  Oh, I love how WF always intensifies my polishes!
