Butter London Sprog

I ordered this polish on a whim and didn't think I'd like it as much as I do.  Butter London Sprog is a cornflower blue creme which becomes opaque and shiny in two easy coats.  I added a coat of Zoya Maisie, the beautiful blue flaky polish, to my ring fingers and thumbs and I loved the combination.  This polish would look great with a black or white Konad design as well, methinks.

I think this polish might be similar to Essie Boxer Shorts from the Yogaga collection.  I"ll have to compare.  Do you have anything similar?

OPI Live and Let Die/OPI On her Majesty's Secret Service

I don't normally go out and buy polishes from new collections, but I happened to be in Trade Secrets this weekend and spotted the new OPI James Bond Skyfall collection.  I picked up four polishes that intrigued me; two of them being Live and Let Die and On her Majesty's Secret Service.
Can I just say 'what a disappointment'!  As there were no sample nail wheels for this collection in the store, I had only the lighting to rely on and I really think something in Trade Secrets' lighting makes polishes more twinkly, saturated and beautiful than they really are!  In the store, LaLD appeared to be either a navy blue or dark teal polish with prominent multicoloured (gold, green, pink) glitter while OhMSS appeared to have a charcoal base with the same multicoloured glitter.
When I put them on at home, I was disappointed to see that LaLD appears almost black in all lighting with subtle, not prominent glitter, while OhMSS maintained the same charcoal base, but without the twinkle of the colours in the glitter.  Furthermore, LaLD covered in two coats but on several nails, I had cuticle drag and had to polish a few areas with three.  OhMSS needed three coats for opacity.
If the glitter was more prominent in LaLD, I wouldn't mind the almost-black base, but I already have many other polishes like this with brighter glitter.  As for OhMSS, I am just not a fan of glitter like this; I prefer shimmer or larger glitter.  Why did I even bother?

I know for sure that the third glitter I picked up, The World is Not Enough, is not my colour, so I am fervently hoping that Tomorrow Never Dies will turn out to be as blue as swatches I've seen and not purple like the lone nail that I've tested...

Elixir Tricky/Girly Bits Street Magic/Candy Juicy

Green is one of my favourite colours, especially shades of the olive or lime persuasion, but I rarely wear it on my nails.  I've had Elixir Tricky for months and months and I'm only getting to it now ~ silly me!  It's a gorgeous golden olive shimmer, the perfect backdrop for the subtle duochromic emerald/orange shift of Girly Bits Street Magic.  I decided to accent the mani with a layer of Candy Lacquer Juicy, a bright chartreuse/orange glitter bomb.  Again, why did I wait so long to use a polish?
I used one coat of Tricky (to cover a sage polish I was wearing), one coat of Street Magic and then one of Wicked Fast.
The day after I did this mani, my Butter London order came in and I decided to slap on a layer of Swinger.  The larger glitter in Swinger is emerald green while the base appears to be a murkier olive green, so it complemented both Tricky and Street Magic.  I love how the emerald glints at all angles!

Isn't the shimmer gorgeous?  Definitely appropriate for fall!

Elixir Lacquer Tricky, Girly Bits Street Magic, Candy Lacquer Juicy

I've been wearing this for two days now and it's going strong; it will officially be my Thanksgiving mani tomorrow!  Could I possibly become a green convert?
Do you like wearing a base and glitter with the same colours, just in different shades?

Layla Flash Black

This is the first Layla polish that I've tried in my quest for a charcoal holo HG polish and I have to admit, it might be the one (depending on how my MPJ search goes)!  On the bottle, the label obscures most of Flash Back and the bit of holo that you can see doesn't appear to be linear.  However, once you apply the polish and wait for it to dry, it is amazingly linear!
I applied two coats, plus on a few fingers, I covered some bald spots near the cuticles.  I did notice cuticle drag if I wasn't careful, so I will try it under a dark base or my Nfu Oh Aqua Base next time and see how that pans out.  I did put on one coat of Wicked Fast and while it did appear to dull the polish, once WF dried, the holo returned in its full glory!  :)

The great thing about this polish is that it is holo in all lights, at least to me.  It sparkles most brilliantly in the sun, but it also has a nice subtle glow in low light as well.
Now, if only it weren't so expensive...

OPI Metallic 4 Life

Here's one you've all seen a million times, but I'll show it to you on my nubs anyway ~ OPI Metallic 4 Life from the Nicki Minaj collection!
Be forewarned, this pic was taken hastily, so it is not the greatest.  I couldn't, for the life of me, photograph the polish accurately with flash, so it is kind of washed out in the natural light.
Two coats provided great opacity; I was surprised the black polish didn't wash out the silver glitter.
Now, let me admit that I'm not the biggest fan of wearing glitter (looking at it on others, yes, but not wearing it), but I loved this.  There's just something so rocker chick about it!  What do you think?  I bought a back up bottle (on sale!) as I can see myself wearing this over and over.  :)
