Ozotic 505/Deborah Lippmann Don't Tell Mama

I've had both these beauties in my stash for a few months now and finally decided to try them.  The blackened teal colour of Don't Tell Mama perfectly matches the teal flash of 505; it was only natural that I partner them.  505 is sheer, so it is best layered over a darker colour, at least that is what the majority of people think.  I think I will try layering this over a lighter colour next time and seeing which mani I prefer.
I painted two coats of DTM and two coats of 505.  Note that there wasn't much of a difference in intensity between one and two coats, so if you do a thick coat, you can get away with one and save the precious polish...
I didn't take a picture of DTM by itself, but Vampy Varnish has a good swatch.

Blue to purple shift of Don't Tell Mama
*excuse my abused cuticles!!*

Besides teal, blue and purple, this polish also shifts from a blazing emerald to reddish bronze.  I couldn't get good pictures of the last two, so here is a great comparison of all the colours!

Pretty and Polished Tart

Excuse the colour of my fingers, but I had to adjust the colour/saturation on this picture to make the polish as dark as it is; it was showing up as a very light purple.
Two coats of Tart reached opacity, but I used three so that I could add more glitter on my nails!  Along with large coloured hexagons, there are also medium ones and small purple glitter.  It may be hard to tell, but the lilac base has very fine shimmer that changes from blue to purple.  This polish is very pretty, but in my (humble) opinion, I think the small purple glitter takes away from the beauty of the shimmer.

What do you think?

Nostalgic Nail Lacquer Rio

Quick post today, as my kiddies are asleep and I want to go paint my nude nails!
Two coats of Nostalgic Rio over Essie Kisses and Bises.  Not the best underwear for Rio methinks, but I had no time to remove K&B and start over.  Oh well, I will try again. :)
Good application on Rio and gorgeous glitter (blue, purple and holo small and medium hexagons); I really like the coverage with two coats - not full on, but not sparse.  We all need a bit of the middle sometimes. :)

Nostalgic Nail Lacquer Andie

This is the second Nostalgic polish I've tried and I also love this one!  Andie is a light pink jelly with small purple (?) glitter and large salmon hexagons.  I used three coats here with one coat of topcoat (no underwear) and I'm pretty delighted.  It's so 'lady like'!  It also looks great over pink underwear polish; I will definitely try this one day.  I can't wait to try the final polish in the 'Bizarre Teenage Love Triangle' collection ~ Duckie.  I will definitely use underwear for that one though, as green-tinged nails are not by bag.  :0

Nostalgic Nail Lacquer Blane

Here's another artisan lemming that was satisfied!  Nostalgic Blane is a lilac jelly with large dark blue hexagons and small turquoise and dark blue glitter.  I don't have many jelly polishes, but if they are all like this, I am in love!  Two easy coats gave my nails a faint purple blush; the softness of the purple goes well with the brightness of the blue glitter.  I trimmed my nails shortly before this picture was taken and even they look good with this polish!  ;)
I've seen swatches with purple 'underwear' (sounds so wrong!) polish and it looks nice like that, but I think it also looks great like this.

*drool*
More Nostalgic polishes will be featured here soon.  Yay!

Zoya Yara

Quick post as the kidlets are under my feet. :)

I normally post manis in the order that I wear them (I don't swatch), but I was so excited to try out my new Pretty and Polished pretties the other day that I went out of order.  Anyway, I think I used two coats.  The polish was a little goopy, but turned out nicely.  My question:  is this my kind of polish?  I love the green, but I'm not really a gold shimmer/glitter kind of girl.  Why did I buy it?  I also don't know! ;)

I have to try out Neeka and see if I appreciate the gold glitter in a different colour.

Pretty and Polished Valentino

This should really be part of my last post, as it is the same mani with a coat of Pretty and Polished Valentino over it.  I wasn't sure that it would work, since black and white glitter seems to work best on pastels or brights, but it turned out nicely, methinks.  It kinds of looks like galaxies, twinkling in the dusky sky...

Pretty and Polished Born Again/Haul

I decided to take the plunge and order artisan polishes after reading all the hoopla surrounding them.  First came Pam's Girly Bits (still waiting for my invoice).  Then came Lynnderella (wishlist submitted and waiting) and All that Glitters (on its way).  Next up - Pretty and Polished.  These were shipped quickly, wrapped thoroughly and are so gorgeous!  I quickly swatched Born Again, a deep blue jelly spiked with medium holographic hexagons and large coloured hexagons.  Two coats would have sufficed for opacity, but I love how the glitter looks suspended in three layers.  I didn't get any of the large hexagons on this hand, but I did on the other hand.  I should have tipped the bottle upside down for five minutes (a trick I heard that causes the glitter on the bottom to come to the top), but I was too impatient!

I am so glad I ordered this full size!  I definitely need to get Valentino and Labor of Love full size as well.  Chastise me, but I think that Valentino is nicer than that famous artisan black and white polish everyone is talking about lately.  Said polish is nice of course, but I don't like bar/stick glitter.  I think the small and medium hexagons in Valentino are classy!
And here is my Pretty and Polished haul:

Born Again, Cryptid

GBF, Valentino, Boy Crazy

Johnny Law, Labor of Love, Tart

Future artisan polishes that will also make an appearance on this blog: Nostalgic, Lacquistry, and Victoriana.  Who needs store-bought polish? ;)

Ozotic 532/Sally Hansen Grey by Grey

This is the last of my Ozotic 'mishmash' polishes.  I didn't buy the fourth one, 533, as I read on many blogs that it was too similar to 532.  However, I definitely want to get it now.  I am really impressed with the Ozotic formula.  I layered two coats of 532 over Grey by Grey, but I could have stopped at one coat.  It dried quickly to a high shine and teased me with its holographic goodness in all lighting conditions.  Love!  This polish ran the gamut from purple to blue to grey to salmon.  Of course, I'm not a great photographer, so I didn't take pictures of the many shades, but you can easily find those on the web.

Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday/OPI In the Spot-Light Pink

I felt like a palate cleanser and decided to go with OPI In the Spot-Light Pink.  Side note ~ I saw this awesome swatch of ItSLP on Pinterest and a lemming was born.  I wish it looked as pink on my nails...
I used two coats if I remember correctly and the light pink jelly covered my ridges nicely, so this one is a keeper in my books.  I threw on two coats of Lippmann Happy Birthday as an accent nail.  Cute!

On another note, I've become increasingly interested in handmade (artisan, if you will) polishes from Etsy.  Darn you, nail blogs I follow; you are hard on my wallet! ;)  I will post swatches when I receive said polishes and until then, you should definitely check them out!

Sally Hansen Lady Luck/Misa Wink, Blink, Let's Get a Drink

I chose these two polishes because they are both a stunning fuchsia (magenta?) colours.  Wink, Blink, Let's Get a Drink applied beautifully in one coat, but that wasn't enough for me.  I wanted a tiny bit of bling, so I added a coat of Lady Luck for the sparse holographic glitter.  Pretty pair, methinks!
I had to go and ruin the mani by painting my ring finger with one coat of China Glaze Wireless.  Wireless is beautiful with any creme polish, but with the shimmer of WBLGaD and the glitter of Lady Luck, it was a bit overkill.  Oh well, at least it wasn't too obvious from afar.
